Internal isight v. external old isight: how to switch

Post by jamesandbran »

I am running bookpedia on a macbook with leaopard. It has an internal isight camera, but i am wanting to use the external, old isight camera. The internal one is the only one that works, how can i switch to the other camera?

We are trying to figure out a way to have the programs tell apart the two different camera options and let users choose one over the other.

Bookpedia lets the OS X pick its preferred camera. If you have two cameras connected and you are using the preferred camera in another application it will force the program to select the second camera. For example open the iChat AV preferences and select the camera you would like not to use and then open the iSight in Bookpedia. You might also find the following script useful; it disables and enables USB cameras (built-in iSight) therefore only allowing the external (firewire) camera to work.
