Collection switching without collection list visible?

The request (or rather suggestion, I should say) comes from my prefered screen layout of DVDpedia: I use an info panel style with a cover thumbnail, and resize the collection list and the cover pane on the left hand size to zero (invisible). The lower third of the screen is taken up by the info view, while the rest shows the collection in cover mode.

The hidden collection list leaves much more room for the collection itself. However, I cannot switch between different collections. It would be nice and convenient if the toolbar could contain a simple drop-down box, which offers the same list of collections as the list on the left hand side does. Sounds pretty easy to implement to me, and if someone doesn't like it, the toolbar can be configured...
