Comic Book-Pedia

Post by StuAlan »

Just checking in to see if there has been any progress in creating a comic book-pedia?

We've incorporated comic books into Bookpedia instead of creating dedicated program. Visit the "Preferences -> Fields" to turn on a number of additional fields that are for comic books only. For searches, use Doghouse and set the search to 'Comics' instead of books.

I just downloaded Bookpedia and haven't purchased it yet. For searches; to choose doghouse and set the search to comics instead of books, does bookpedia have to be registered?

The demo version is fully functional, all features are unlocked. Once you add more than 25 entries the add and edit features will lock and the program will ask for a serial number.

You won't see the site specific options of the search, when the search is set to "All". So do make sure to click on the magnifying glass in the search field and switch to Doghouse. Then the site specific search options will appear to what is available for that search site.

Doghouse currently has only 23,559 comics cataloged and half of those are French (a bigger comic culture there). We are working on incorporating other sources, such as Wikipedia but even that is limited. The open comic databases are limited. Most are closed and used by specific software for their own uses. So if you do end up buying Bookpedia do consider signing up for Doghouse to be able to contribute all the entries that you have to enter by hand.

Thanks Conor,

There is a site called mycomicshop.com that sells comics, but when you go and look at their site they have a large database full of comic info.
Not sure if you could use them...
