What is the purpose of the Collection ID field? Is that a place where DVD Pedia may add info, or is it just a free entry field that you can make up your own ID for? It is always blank for me.

The Collection ID field is for your own use; users who have a system to their collection with numbers or letters assigned to each DVD. Of course if you don't you can feel free to use it for any other information you like to keep track of like the number of degrees of separation between the main actors in the movie and Kevin Bacon.
