Language Field?

Post by sfretheim »

How is the language indicator in Bookpedia populated? I currently have a few hundred entries, and for most of them the language indicator correctly shows "English". A few entries show "eng", but the book that I most recently entered shows "enbo". I cannot find a field in any of the screens to allow me to edit the language indicator.

If you go into Settings > Autofill tab and select Language from the drop-down menu 'Autofill values for' All the entries for that field will show up. You can edit them here.

The best way to check that your titles have the entries you want is to ensure you are in 'List' view and then go to View > Columns > Locale Language is ticked. That will show a column for the 'Languages'. (remember you can click the column title to ascend or descend in alphabetical order) Now highlight all the entries you wish to edit and select 'Edit' and the 'Edit Multiple Entries' panel will appear. Now, in the 'Language' field, enter your choice and click OK. And all those entries will be corrected.

Return to Settings > Autofill tab and select Language from the drop-down menu 'Autofill values for' and delete the entry you do not want and then select 'Rebuild'

Let us all know how you get on. :D

Yes - Got It - Thank you.
On the Mac the terminology is a bit different (Preferences rather than Settings), but your instructions got me going in the right direction.
More exploring to do.
Thanks again!

"System Preferences" on a Mac became "System Settings" with the release of macOS 13.*.* Ventura, meaning the change happened in late 2022 in line with Apple iDevices nomenclature.
