Trouble syncing Pocketpedia2 & iPhone 3GS

Post by kimacnz »

Pocketpedia2
iPhone 3GS
Bookpedia Beta 4.6.4

Hello,
Can't find anything on your forum about this particular combination. Your program has worked just fine for over a year, but now I can't get it to sync. Here's what has been happening with my iPhone.
1.) My iPhone would crash in the middle of using it. Per Apple instructions, I tried restoring the phone which didn't really help, but that's another issue. My Pocketpedia had been restored, but only as of July which is the date the restoring went back to.
2.) I tried to sync Bookpedia w/Pocketpedia. It seemed to get the books, but when it came to loading images, it stopped after 3 or so.
3.) Tried syncing a few more times & it looked like all was well; the number of books on Pocketpedia equalled the number on Bookpedia. However when I went to look at my collections, the new books show up as Not Synced w/the Bruji icon where the image should be.
4.) Tried syncing a few more times after restarting my laptop (MacBook 10.6.6) but I get the following:
First it says "Requesting collections", then "Syncing changes to Mac." After these messages, the box just goes away & nothing is changed.

Thanks so much for any suggestions,

Kim

Try turning off Bluetooth on both your Mac and the iPhone and then try the sync again.

Hello,
Thanks for your help. I turned off Bluetooth on both my iPhone & Mac (both were on) & tried to sync again.
First try: Got "Requesting collections", then "Syncing changes to Mac."Got another box that had wording on it, but the box disappeared before I could read the words.
Second try: Restarted the computer. Got "Requesting collections", then "Syncing changes to Mac." The next box stayed on the screen; it said something like "Requesting enries.." It stayed on the screen for about 3-4 minutes, but nothing happened. I cancelled & started the sync immediately.
Third (and several more) tries: back to results I received on my first try. Got "Requesting collections", then "Syncing changes to Mac." Got another box that had wording on it, but the box disappeared before I could read the words.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks much,

Kim

Hi Kim,

Try restarting the iPhone as well as that seems to sometimes get in an unknown state about the wireless connection. If you continue to have trouble do please send us your database file so that we can sync your data here and make sure it's a network issue and not any other type of bug. You will find your file in your home folder under ~/Library/Application Support/Bookpedia/Database.pediadata. Select it and use the File-->Compress command to create a zip version that can be attached to an email.

Hi Conor,

"You will find your file in your home folder under ~/Library/Application Support/Bookpedia/Database.pediadata."

Thanks for your help. I turned off & restarted both my MacBook & iPhone, but had no luck in syncing. I would like to send you the database file, but I can't find it. I've searched under home, bookpedia, bookpedia/database & many other word combinations.

Would it make a difference if I was using Bookpedia Beta? Where should I find my home folder? I am working w/a MacBook (OS 10.6.6).

Again, thanks so much for your help.

When you open a Finder window, the 'Home' folder is the one with the little house next to it, usually located on the left hand side of your Finder window. Select that and then select the folder 'Library' inside it, then 'Application Support' inside there, and finally 'Bookpedia' inside there. Once you've opened the Bookpedia folder you will see the Database.pediadata file.
