Well, no I simply can't get the Logitech to recognise anything.
I guess I'll have to start using the fixed camera in my MBP which works, but is inconvenient (since holding the book up in front of the camera obscures the screen and it's not usually in a place where I can pile books for scanning),

Re: Other camera support?
Conor, Sorry to be long in replying, but I was on holiday for three weeks. Here is the information from the console log. It seems to recognise the camera fine, but no amount of changing the light or position or angle of the camera will persuade it to scan the barcode. (The camera is not the special ...

Re: Other camera support?
I got a LogiTech 9000 thinking I would be able to use it with Bookpedia. My iSight camera has always worked fine. The logitech came up in the window, and the red bars appear, but in 30 minutes of use, I could only get one book to register. I tried holding the camera in my hand, and setting it on my ...

iSight
Thank you both, for the bug report. I found the bug and it's fixed now. You can download the programs again for an immediate fix; otherwise it will be official with the next update. Thanks for this fix. As I said somewhere in the forums, because of this glitch, I went back to version 3.1. This work...

Multiple Results
A couple of times, when I couldn't get the iSight to read, or the result seemed too different, I entered titles manually. Then I got a range of results (sometimes 20 or 30 different ones) referring to different editions. Here, I was often able to find my edition (which was still quicker than putting...

Copyright date
Well, thank for the reply. Actually, I opened each book and put in the copyright date manually, as you said. The iSight worked really smoothly and saved huge amounts of time. After that, putting in the dates manually didn't seem too much of a problem, and the overall time was really quick, so I was ...

Scanning
Well, I scanned 300 books happily with 3.1.2 and it went smoothly. I used plenty of light as recommended, and only two or three times did it take the wrong number, and only about twice could it not read at all. So, I was very pleased with this. But I was having real problems with 3.3.1. By the way, ...

Sorting
Sorry, you're right, this works in 3.3, although it doesn't work at all in 3.1. I had gone back to 3.1 because the iSight was working fine with 3.1 but was producing at least 4 false readings for every positive with 3.3. I happily did my 300 books with 3.1 and the iSight worked smoothly.

Multiple Sort
It doesn't seem possible to sort by more than one field at once - e.g. to sort by author, and then by release date. To do this for one author, you have to search for, and then sort the search result by date. But this sort doesn't stick when you return to the main collection. It seems you can't make ...

iSight too quick
I bought version 3.1.2, and started using that with my iSight camera. It seemed to go pretty well for those books with ISBN barcodes (i.e. not books from the UK which don't). Then I checked for upgrades and got to the latest version 3.3.1. The iSight scanner input has changed from brackets to a bar....

Copyright and other things
Thank you for that helpful reply. I still think it would be a good idea to have a field for copyright (as well as release date), even if it always has to be filled in by hand, for two reasons: 1. As in my case, I want to sort things by the order the author wrote them in, not the order that the parti...

Copyright Info
I bought Bookpedia a while ago, but am just starting to use it to catalog a pile of books I want to put into storage. I've looked as hard as I could at the software, and I did a search here, but couldn't find anything, so here are a couple of questions and a feature request if it's really not there....

Usually it's escape
Usually 'esc' gets you out of full screen in any Mac program.
